 American Protestant Churches are Charmingly Simple


I consider myself to be a Roman Catholic but only nominally. I am Christian but my mentality is more Buddhist than Christian as I care more about self-purging and self-control over mercy. I have critiqued the simple architecture of Protestant churches many times. I want grandeur not simplicity.

However, there is something beautiful in the simple nature of many American churches. In December 2024, I went to Manassas Pentacostal Church. It is along one of the main roads heading out of Manassas. It is a simple brick building, and it has steeple with a cross on the top. The light was just prefect for a photograph so here it is.

Beauty is in the simple things.

Egypt's plan to create Gaza Security Force may not pass Israel's political blockade

Egypt, a country on the sidelines of the Gaza War, is apparently building a Gaza Security Force for Gaza after the war. This is based on the idea that Hamas will disarm and give control to its rivals, Fatah which is led by the elderly yet still capable Mahmood Abbas. This idea is quite strange to me. Hamas has tons of street credibility with the youth in the Arab world because of their ability to resist the Israeli attacks on Gaza. The initial attacks on Israel by Hamas were brutal and vicious, setting off a cycle of violence that continues. Regardless of whether Hamas is not in the Gaza strip, the organization has a reputation and that cannot be removed just because Israel says so. Had Israel been more successful in its operation in the beginning of the war, maybe this reputation would not have been as potent as it is now.  Egypt will not able to get this security force into Gaza. What should be in Ukraine and Russia Peace Treaty to end the Russo-Ukraine War

  Trump and Putin met in Anchorage, Alaska on August 15th, to find common ground on how to end this Russo-Ukraine War which erupted in early 2022. On August 18th, he met with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other European leaders as a way to bring the parties together to find peace in Europe. This is a war that has been going on for so long and both sides are entrenched in their own ways of thinking. There needs to be some attempt to find some common ground with these people. Europe had been inciting and inflaming the conflict for many years before the invasion began. Russia for their part has also been engaged in hybrid warfare across the globe, causing many people to question their governments and even their own narratives. The newsmongers tend to hide behind their studios without actually being on front lines and seeing what is actually happening in Ukraine and Russia.
