Egypt's plan to create Gaza Security Force may not pass Israel's political blockade
Egypt, a country on the sidelines of the Gaza War, is apparently building a Gaza Security Force for Gaza after the war.
This is based on the idea that Hamas will disarm and give control to its rivals, Fatah which is led by the elderly yet still capable Mahmood Abbas. This idea is quite strange to me. Hamas has tons of street credibility with the youth in the Arab world because of their ability to resist the Israeli attacks on Gaza. The initial attacks on Israel by Hamas were brutal and vicious, setting off a cycle of violence that continues. Regardless of whether Hamas is not in the Gaza strip, the organization has a reputation and that cannot be removed just because Israel says so.
Had Israel been more successful in its operation in the beginning of the war, maybe this reputation would not have been as potent as it is now.
Egypt will not able to get this security force into Gaza.
Israel just attacked Syria even though Al-Sharaa is supposedly on the side of the West (Which really makes no sense).
What needs to happen is comprehensive peace agreement which allows Isreal to cooperate with the Palestinians. This is even more in the murky waters of possibilities as this war taken so many lives and utter lack of action by the United Nations.
Egypt's actions are suited for the 1970s when the PLA was still a romantic organization seeking to free Palestine. There have been so many attacks that is has become background noise in this age.
The Palestinian People deserve much better than that. The Jews deserve to be more than supporters of a government that seems to exist on another planet of morality.
The situation is the result of our autopilot society, and it is tough to see how to resolve it.
