When you do not have an already big channel or a personality which is well known, people are going to learn whether they enjoy your content. A YouTuber who builds trust is going to have advantage at starting any channel.  If you are celebrity or have many cyber friends who collaborate with you in meatspace, then it is possible to get many subscribers quickly on the site. When you look at the analytics, it is clear that the beginning is where the drop off in viewership occurs; you need to pay attention to your hooks so that people stay throughout the entire video. How to keep your audience's attention: Get the hook. My advice is this here: Get your audience's attention just as you would writing a book or even making a video game.
